1. What is parkyourcamper.com?

ParkYourCamper.com is a new service, which aims to provide the details and locations of free campervan parking  for people travelling in self contained camper vans.  As well as locations, the site also provides details on things to do in the area.

2. In which countries is parkyourcamper.com available?

Parkyourcamper.com is currently only available in New Zealand.  However, anyone visiting the site may add a new location, which includes other countries (subject to the usual confirmation process).

3. What is the confirmation process?

The confirmation process checks that the areas suggested by users are genuine, before being posted on the website.

4. Do I have to pay to use the site?

Absolutely not. The site is 100% free.

5. How do I use parkyourcamper.com to find somewhere to park?

Simply select the country and area you are looking for and a map will be generated marking the free parking areas.

6. Can I leave feedback about the parking areas?

Yes you can. Simply click on the location and then on the ‘Rate It’ link. Rate the area by choosing between 1-5; 5 being the highest rating.  Alternatively, use the 'contact us' page and include as much detail as possible.

7. How do I go about adding a parking area?

You can add a parking area by clicking on the 'Add Parking' button which is displayed on each page for every area.  Alternatively, click on the 'Leave Your Mark' tab and then select 'Add Parking' and fill out the simple form.

8. How do I go about adding something on the ‘Things-to-do’ List?

You can add something to the 'Things to do List' by clicking on the 'Add Activity' button which is displayed on each page for every area.  Alternatively, click on the 'Leave Your Mark' tab and then select 'Add Activity' and fill out the simple form.

9. Is it safe to park in the areas listed on parkyourcamper.com? 

Whilst every effort is made to check the validity of the areas listed, parkyourcamper.com and its owners will not accept any liability howsoever caused.  Try to arrive at an area in daylight to check it out before deciding whether to stay or not. If you do not feel comfortable in any area then you should leave and try to find somewhere else to stay. Always remember that common sense should be used in all situations and most importantly, if you park up for the night…lock your van!  Also, a spot may have recently become unsuitable for some reason...the only way we will know about things like this is if the users inform us, so please do!  Click here for some tips on travelling in a campervan.

10. Are there any particular rules regarding parking in the areas listed on this site?

Wherever you may park for the night, there are a number of important things to consider:

  • Never leave any rubbish or waste behind
  • Keep noise to a minimum, especially during the night
  • Refrain from lighting any fires
  • Never use a generator – if you do need electricity then stay in a camp-site

Moreover, most importantly:

  • Respect the local people and environment
  • Take nothing but photos and memories

Adherence to all of the above will ensure you fully enjoy all the area has to offer.

13. Do I need to be a member to use the site?

Absolutely not.  We want the site to be as accessible as possible!  Personally, we would be less likely to use a site if we have to submit personal details!
